Dynacorp Battlesuit- Mark II

Description

A suit that can be used by random goons to go up against my characters, based upon the crude armored machines seen in the "Depths of Dynacorp!" story. Can be used by anybody that wishes to involve Dynacorp in a story.

One of Dynacorp's most profitable products since the early 2000's was the brainchild of the robotics program, the Battlesuit. As one of the few machines not designed by Dylan Zyne during his employment at the company, the suit was designed to function as a powered suit of armor that could withstand attacks by the superhumans of that era, such as the Industrial Revolutionaries and The Rock Whisperer, as well as provide protection for soldiers and police in especially-dangerous situations. After the Massacre of '04, however, the battlesuit lost much of its flair, since it was not only irrelevant in a post-superhuman world, but also prone to malfunctioning and breaking down over time- requiring costly checkups and replacement parts.

The remaining suits that were still in production were used to keep watch over Dynacorp's more expensive secrets and installations, their pilots locked away in the bowels of the corporate empire for a very small salary. When superhumans made a return, Dynacorp hoped that the fears of the public would lead to the sales of the Mark I shooting up again. But after several Mark I Battlesuits were proven to be incredibly ineffective towards modern superhumans such as Dr. Pluto, Dynacorp's scientists went back to the drawing board and modified their design. This time, they decided to accommodate offense over defense, eschewing the old system of four-fingered arms and external laser rifles in favor of arm-mounted blasters that can channel energy into opponents (These suits can also be slightly modified to change the color of the blasts that they fire, with no change to the effect of the energy)

The genius of the Mark II's engineering is that unlike the originals, the casing and protective dome have been reinforced to make them less prone to shattering completely upon strong impacts. That way, in case a unit's components are damaged, they can be easily replaced and repaired without having to worry about every suit needing individually-molded casings. The arms and legs have also been isolated from the pilot's lead-shielded compartment, so as to prevent them from being harmed by residual effects of the battlesuit's energy weaponry, as well as being exposed to an attacker in case one of the limbs is detached from the unit.

The only drawback to the machine's new design is that because the arms and legs are purely mechanical, the driver has to sit in a cramped, crouched position in the chest area as he pilots the machine around. It takes months of practice to master the subtle nuances of walking, let alone going toe to toe with a superhuman intruder, meaning that unless you're fairly knowledgeable about them, stealing a Mark II battlesuit will likely end in a hilarious disaster. Because it's larger than an ordinary human, it's also difficult to climb into the top dome, unless you park the machine in a crouched or sitting position.

Having been better received than its predecessor, the Mark II has enjoyed a successful run in both the weapons business (with a disturbingly-large amount having been purchased by the Department of Defense) and as hired security guards. Dynacorp has also been rumored to be working on a Mark III Battlesuit that mainly derives inspiration from the suit designed by their corporate superhero Fleet. Both of these parties have declined to comment on the matter.

Driver has to sit in a crouched position the whole time?  Who was the sadist who designed this?!
